Togethering in His Spirit, His Plan : Today and Every Day

As we’ve already talked about, the letter to the Hebrew Christians told them all about how Jesus, God’s Son, had Come and changed everything.

The writer wrote, “In the past, God spoke through His angel messengers or through His prophets or Heaven seers… but NOW God has spoken to us by His very own Son. This is the guy… He is the radiant light of God’s glory and the exact picture of who God is. He holds everything together by His power. He washed our sins, and then sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high!”

“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, and a righteous scepter is the scepter of Your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness. So God, Your God, has anointed You over Your companions with the oil of rejoicing.” “You created the earth in the beginning, Lord, and the heavens are the creations of Your hands. They will come to an end, but You go on and on and on. You are the same and Your years will never run out.”

So we’d better pay close attention and not drift away from what Jesus said. Every disobedience or ignoring of God’s messengers has always been punished. So we’ll for sure be in big trouble if we turn our backs on the saving power that God’s Son offers us.

Everything in the world to come is under the control of God’s Son, Jesus! Everything exists for Him and through Him.

In bringing many sons and daughters to glory, God made the pioneer of their salvation a perfect leader through pain. The one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them His brothers and sisters.

He became a human, so that by dying He could destroy the devil and set free those who’ve been in slavery all their lives. He‘s helping Abraham’s children of faith.

He suffered when He was tempted, so He is able to help us when we’re tempted.

So Family… those set apart for God, who share in Heaven’s calling: Glue your thoughts on Jesus! Focus!

Moses was faithful as a servant in God’s House, but Christ is worthy of Greater honor and glory than Moses because He is faithful as the Son and Master over God’s House.

And this House? We are part of it if we hold fast and firm to the end with our joyful and happy confidence and victory in our hope in Christ.

As the Holy Spirit says: Today, listen when He talks!

When you hear His voice, don’t harden your hearts as they did back in the wilderness with Moses.

MAKE SURE that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns your back on the living God. Every day that you call “Today,” you need to urge, warn, and encourage one another so that none of you may become hardened by sin’s trickery.

Did you know?

I’m gonna tell you a Greek word to help you understand something about this.

Just before Jesus died, several times He told His followers, “I’m going back to My Father, but when I go, I will leave My paraklétos.” That’s the word He used to describe His Spirit.

And the word the Hebrews writer used for urging, encouraging and warning each other every day was parakaleite.

Yes, you see and hear the similarities, don’t you? Because it’s the same root word. The Hebrews writer just used the verb form of the word, instead of the noun.

So what was written to the Hebrew Christians wasn’t all that different from saying: “Holy Spirit Each Other. Get up close to each other and help each other every day, so that sin doesn’t harden your heart.”

When people with His Holy Spirit come alongside each other to urge, warn, encourage, draw, and woo each other by that Spirit to grow more and more like Him every day, then that is what will allow people to not be hardened and tricked by sin. This Holy Spiriting each other is the protecting wall around the real Temple, His People.

Do you remember back when we talked about Nehemiah and the protecting walls he built around God’s House? The enemies hated that wall, didn’t they? Because that wall meant they couldn’t sneak in and cause trouble.

Well, a temple with no walls is vulnerable, at risk to all sorts of enemy attacks (and the real enemy now is sin and satan’s trickery). So we have to build those protecting walls by having deep relationships in His Spirit.

How do you think people do that? Those who are His have to BE together, of course. We have to KNOW each other if we want to help each other. We have to look in each other’s eyes and grow close, close, close relationships with Him and each other. If we don’t do that, then we will never even get the chance to see how we can help.

Listening to speeches every day is not the protecting wall. Having Bible studies every day is not the protecting wall.

(Of course, you have to know by now that I love studying the Bible and Listening to God’s TRUTH about Life. But I’m here to tell ya that is not the same as someone specifically helping you in the middle of your day when you are really struggling to make the right choices. If you don’t know that yet, you will someday.)

Speeches, Bible studies, and potlucks are not the protecting wall.

If someone wants that protecting wall around themselves and those they love, then for starters they should “Make sure they are helping each other. Make sure they are loving each other. Make sure no one has an unbelieving heart — every day, so that no one is tricked by sin.“

Remember when Paul told the Corinthians that they were ONE body with each person having a special gift or assignment from God? Well, those gifts are meant to help each other in their Daily Jesus Life Together. Those with God’s Holy Spirit are supposed to USE that Spirit to HELP each other.

Some people might think “living by the Spirit” means raising your hands and shouting “Praise the Lord!” Sometimes that might be part of it… but, if we aren’t using that Holy Spirit to help each other be more and more like Jesus every day, then we’re like that clanging, banging gong Paul talked about.

But when God’s People have this life together that is urging, warning, and encouraging each other by the Holy Spirit every day, then that is what allows us to fight off satan’s attacks.

So once you bow your knee to Jesus and His Spirit comes to live inside, always be on the lookout for people who love Jesus, have His Spirit inside of them, and who will use that Holy Spirit every day by urging, warning, encouraging, drawing, wooing others toward Jesus’ Glory-filled Life. Those relationships are the protecting wall.

It’s a Holy Tool that will change first the universe inside of you, and then the universe around you for the Glory of the Living Anointed One of God.

And do you want to know what was told to the Hebrew Christians right after this? “We‘re partners with the Anointed now, if we hold and keep holding on to the confidence we had at first.”

Yee-haw!
