Ezekiel Sees : A Life-Giving River

After God showed Ezekiel the new House, He brought Ezekiel back to the House door. Ezekiel noticed there was a trickle of water flowing from under the doorstep, toward the sunrise. The man who had been measuring everything took a measuring tape, started walking toward the sunrise and measured off 1,000 lengths. The trickle of water was now a little stream. The man led me across the stream. Splish… splash… splish… splash. The water came up to my ankles.

But the man didn’t stop there. He measured off another 1,000 lengths. Across the stream we went. Whish… whish… whish… whish. But this time the water came up to my knees.

After that, the man measured another 1,000 lengths, and across we went. Whoosh… whoosh… whoosh… whoosh. The water was not just a little stream anymore. Now the water was up to my waist!

I bet you can guess what happened next. The man measured another 1,000 lengths. We started across, but now the water was a deep, raging river — so deep that you’d have to swim. But the water was too deep and too fast to cross.

The man said to me, “Have you watched all this carefully?”

Then the man took Ezekiel safely back to the side of the river. Once they were back on then riverbank, Ezekiel saw that along both sides of the river, there were so many trees.

The man told him, “The water flows east toward the sunrise, flowing down into the valley, and into the Dead Sea. When it reaches the Dead Sea, the sea’s waters are healed.”

Did you know?

You might be wondering how a sea could be “sick” and its waters need “healed.” Well, they don’t call it the “Dead” Sea for nothing. The Dead Sea is the lowest place on earth. And the water there is so salty that no plants or animals or fish can live in it. That’s WHY they call it the Dead Sea.

“When the river reaches the Dead Sea, the sea’s waters are healed. Wherever the waters flow, LIFE springs up! There will be fish, fish and more fish because of these healing waters flowing in.

“Fishermen will stand by the sea, spreading their nets. The fish they catch there will be the same kinds as the fish of the Great Sea — oh, sooooo many.

“Along the banks of the river will grow all kinds of trees for food; their leaves won’t turn brown and fall off, and there will be fruit on the trees all the time. The trees will bear fruit every month because they are watered from the water that flows from My Holy Home. Their fruit will be good food, and their leaves will be used as healing medicine.”

That sure sounds like a nice place, doesn’t it? Here’s a little secret about this place. You have a chance to go there!

Do you want to know how? I’ll tell you.

Does your heart ever feel like the lowest place on earth? Just bad or sad or dark or hard. Guess what? One day, when you let the living water (Jesus) flow in, He will make the Dead Sea of your heart come ALIVE, ALIVE, ALIVE! Jesus, that Living Water, can flow into you, through you and then out of you to help others — first a trickle, then a stream, then a river, then raging river rapids.
